Nondestructive dodging and burning

- [Instructor] In this movie, we're going to take our image as it appears so far and we are going to further dodge and burn it, that is to say, selectively brighten and darken details in the image. But instead of using the dodge and burn tools, we're going to use independent layers so as to achieve non-destructive modifications. So we're going to start things off with the highlights inside of the eyes. I'll create a new layer by pressing Control Shift N, or Command Shift N on the Mac, and I'll call this layer Highlights, and I'll click OK. Now, I'll go ahead and select the brush tool, which again I can get by pressing the B key. Just to make sure you and I are on the same page, go ahead and right click on that brush tool icon on the far left side of the Options bar, and choose Reset Tool, and that will reset the opacity level to a hundred percent. It will also result in a soft brush, but one that is way too small, so I'm going to go ahead and increase the size of my brush. Now I'll…
