Open an Illustrator document in Photoshop
- [Instructor] In the same way that you can open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, you can open an Illustrator file in Photoshop. And similarly, this approach also has its drawbacks. Here I am in Bridge. I have a .ai or Illustrator file. And if I choose to open this directly in Photoshop, then I would be rasterizing the image. I will be converting the image to pixels. I can choose the resolution and the color mode, but essentially, I will be losing the editability of this image. This image has now been converted to pixels, and I would not be able to go and edit it in its creator application, i.e. Illustrator, and have that update here in Photoshop. And so for that reason, it's generally preferable to place a linked file in Photoshop. That way you will have the option of making round trip edits.
