Painting with the Art History Brush

- [Instructor] The art history brush can be a fun way to create a painterly effect in Photoshop. I'm going to tap the Y key which will select the history brush. I actually want the art history brush tool. The way the art history brush works is that it uses the snapshot in the history panel. So when you first open a document in Photoshop, Photoshop will capture this snapshot, and that's what the art history brush uses for the source when it creates its paint strokes. And this means that no matter how many times you paint over an area, you can use a large brush and then a small brush because the art history brush will sample from the original photo. So you're not just smearing around a bunch of pixels. You won't lose any image quality because it's always going to re-sample from the source. Let's take a look at some of the different options. You've got your blend modes and opacity. I'm going to set my opacity to 50% and then…
