Painting contrast with the Overlay mode

- [Instructor] In this movie we're going to increase the contrasts of our mask, first by applying the levels command and then by painting with the brush tool set to the Overlay blend mode. So, just because I want to do things as non-destructively as possible, I'll create a copy of my existing alpha channel by dragging it and dropping it onto the little page icon at the bottom of the channels panel. Then, I'll go up to the image menu, choose adjustments, and choose levels, or if you prefer, you can press control L or command L on the Mac. Now, once again, we need to move the sliders to beyond the big lumps, so the white point needs to take all this stuff right here and make it white, and I can make that happen by dragging this white slider triangle to, about 150 should work out. And if you take a very close look at the histogram, you can see that there's a point right there, and I want to stay to the left of it so that I'm taking every major spike that there is and making it white.
