- Alright, now we're going to get rid of all this garbage above and below the logo and you can erase details inside of an image using the eraser tool, but that would result in a permanent modification. And so what we're going to do instead is create an independent layer of whiteout using the brush tool. And so the first thing you want to do is go over here to the layers panel and notice this little plus sign down here at the bottom of the panel. If you click on it, you'll create a new layer that's unnamed. In other words, Photoshop assigns it a default name if you want to name the layer on the fly, then go ahead and press the alt key or the option key on the Mac and click on that icon like so to force the display of the new layer dialog box, and I'll just go ahead and call this layer, whiteout and click okay.
