In order to work with vanishing point, you're going to start in Photoshop. Now I've got a very easy-to-use image that you should practice with and it's pretty straightforward. With the photograph open, choose filter, vanishing point. Now what you need to do is create the planes. Let's zoom out a little bit here Command or Control + Minus and click with the plane tool. You'll want to click to define where the surface is. So draw it out to the corners and bring it up. Once you've placed that, you may find it necessary to extend it slightly to fully cover the surface. Now come on over and hold down the Command or Control key and tear off another plane. It comes off at a 90 degree angle. So once you draw it out, you might need to tweak the angle slightly so it better lines up with the surface. Pay attention to where the points go.
