- [Instructor] What comes first, the composite or the video footage that you'll add to it? In some cases, the composite comes first and you may need to go out and shoot the video to place the composite into. In other scenarios, you may be filming the locations first and then adding composited elements later. No matter which approach you decide to use it does help to previsualize the composite and how it will fit into the scene. Let's take a look at few examples. This is a waterfall in Iceland and when I photographed this, I was thinking of using the video in a composite project. Though I didn't know how I might use it. This video has two very distinct areas in the scene, the river, and the cliffs, and everything above them. And so, I could easily add structures or other elements up there. I could replace the modern bridge with an old stone bridge. I could put a castle in the background. I could have a volcano erupting. Or, I could even have a rough stone wall where the water is…
