Refine mask edges with Select and Mask and the Brush tool
- [Instructor] In this movie, I'm going to show you how to refine the mask with the selected mask workspace, to get better results. With the layer mask selected you can click on the selected mask button from the properties panel. By default, you will see the onion skinning mode, but I'm going to change the view to black and white so that we can better see the mask. With a layer mask, white reveals and black conceals. I'm going to select the zoom tool and I'm going to zoom into the mask. And right away, you'll see that the mask has jagged edges. I can smooth these edges using the global refinements sliders on the right-hand side of the panel. If you drag the smooth slider to the right, you'll see that Photoshop will smooth the edges on your mask. The feathering slider blurs the edges. This is not necessary in this case. Instead, you want to sharpen the edges. So increase the contrast. And notice that edges become much…
