- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll take our gently waving type layer and we'll turn it into these letters projected onto smoke. Alright, so the first step in this movie is to make sure that smart object layer is selected. Then, go up to the filter menu, choose blur, and choose motion blur. Now, we'll be discussing the blur filters in more detail in the next chapter, but for now, just know that the whole purpose of the motion blur filter is to apply a bi-directional blur as we're seeing right here. So in other words, the letters are blurring in both directions along this 45 degree axis because the angle value is set to 45 degrees. I want the letters to blur back and forth horizontally, so I'll set the angle value to zero degrees and I'll set the distance value for now to 10 pixels so we have just a little bit of blur as we're seeing right here.
