- [Instructor] This chapter on smart objects pick up where my Photoshop Essential Training's basic course leaves off. So if you're unfamiliar with smart objects, then be sure to watch the Smart Objects Essentials chapter in the Photoshop Essentials Training: Basics. This video and the next one are going to focus on the benefit of using smart objects with templates. So in this example, I want to create a series of notecards that I could use as marketing materials for my book called "Passenger Seat." But you can use the same technique if you're replacing an FPO image, like a for-placement-only image, for a retouched version, or really any time you want to start with a template and have the flexibility to quickly swap out a photo.
