Scanning and bit depth advice
Scanning is the oldest way of getting your images into Photoshop and in many ways, it's still one of the best ways. You're able to lay out multiple images. You're able to establish a uniform layout where everything is positioned just as you want it. You have even lighting. You have a controlled environment. And in the case of images that might be curled or misshapen, you have a surface that will flatten the images out, and that's really handy as well. Now, in the case of people who have hundreds and thousands, tens of thousands of images, there are some great services where you can just send a box of images off and get them back prescanned, even slightly retouched, and that convenience is great for a lot of folks. I'm going to go ahead and assume that some of you are using flatbed scanners or have access to a flatbed scanner, and I want to give you just a couple tips to make sure that you get the most out of Photoshop.
