- [Narrator] Here's a really nice but obscure trick for you in making selections. Sometimes you got things that are so very similar in terms of value that it's very difficult for automatic operations inside of Photoshop to actually catch what you need. And that's always going to be the case. But, here's something that might help. So, my preferred way of doing this is actually to turn the background of an image into a smart object. But on this particular occasion I'm not going to do that. I'm just going to use command J here to create a new copy of that layer. Okay and what I'm then going to do is get the quick selection tool. So I'm going to tap W on my keyboard and actually it's saying that I've got the one there so I'll choose the quick selection tool. The easiest thing to do here, I want to select the hotel and these buildings around here, don't need that wall particularly, is to go for the sky because that's the thing that's got the most similar amount of colors in it.
