Selective Sharpening with Camera Raw and Masks

- [Instructor] One of the more common tasks that we need to do with our photographs is to sharpen and reduce noise. And so here I want to take a look at how we can use Camera Raw and masking in order to do that. Now if we look at this beautiful family here we can see that they are sitting on this beach in San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background and I shot this photograph with a shallow depth of field, meaning the subjects, they are in focus and the background, it's a blur. So I don't necessarily want to sharpen everything, I only want to sharpen the area of the image which is in focus, the subjects and some of the sand and whatnot as well. Well, how can we do that? Let me show you how this works. We'll begin by converting our Background layer to a Smart Object layer, so right-click, choose Convert to Smart Object. Next up we'll go to our Filter pull-down menu, choose Camera Raw as a Filter, just like before, nothing new here. Now with this we're going to the Detail…
