Separate the colors to Layers

- [Instructor] In this second step of our Mondrian inspired composition, what I want to do here is separate the colors to distinct layers. Before I can do that, I need to convert the stroke of the border into fills. So I'm going to select all and then come to the object menu and to path and outline stroke. I'll deselect, come and choose my magic wand tool, and now click back on one of those borders. Come to my layers panel, create a new layer, and I'm now going to move my selection, which is just the black borders, to that new layer. So now I'll repeat that process for the different colors. I'll come and click on red. Move that to a separate layer, and yellow. Blue. And what will soon be the black. And the light gray. Now I'll select the magenta rectangles by clicking on the bullseye of its layer and we can now restore this to black. But the reason that they were magenta is just so they could be distinguished from the black of the border. So I'm now ready to export this as a PSD file.…
