Setting the ambient light

Any 3D scene is going to benefit from lighting. They can add shadows, depth, and color to really bring things to life. Let's take a look at a couple of scenes we worked with earlier and enhance them by adding 3D lights. To start, go ahead and choose File Open, and navigate to the Lesson 10 folder, and choose the project called Lighting. Click OK to update it. This one has three different scenes in it, and we're going to work with all three of these. To start, open up soldiers in field. Now in this case, we need to add the ambient light. You can do this by choosing Layer New Light. The ambient light is the base light level. Now, most of the time we're going to reduce the amount of light available with the ambient light. This is a lot like how a studio is typically dark, and then you add lights to the scene to bring it out.
