Setting the antialiasing for very small text

- [Man] In this movie, I'll show you how to adjust the antialiasing of very small text. Now, first of all, what in the world am I talking about? I'll go ahead and zoom in here, beyond 100% on the word love and notice these translucent pixels that surround each one of the letters. That is what's known as antialiasing. So, the idea is Photoshop somehow has to represent a round letter, in this case, using square pixels so as opposed to just having jagged letters, and now I'm so far zoomed in that I'm seeing the pixel grid, so I'm going to hide it by pressing control H, or command H for hide. And the reason is, I really want you to see these translucent pixels right here. Basically what's happening, is Photoshop is calculating how much of the mathematical definition of the O is leaking into this pixel right here and it's making the pixel appropriately translucent. So, as these pixels drift away from this right edge right here, upward and downward, they become more translucent still and…
