Sharpen and line art

- [Narrator] Here's a very useful technique for creating line art from a photograph. This will use the Smart Sharpen Filter, in combination with a Dodge Burn Layer and a Threshold Adjustment Layer. Coming now to my starting state, first thing I want to do is convert my background layer to a smart object. Then, I'll come to my channel's panel, where I have a pre-saved Alpha channel. I'll command click on that to load it as a selection, then return to my layers panel and add that selection as a layer mask so that now we're masking the background. I'll come to my adjustment layers and add a solid color fill layer, make that white, drag that beneath my image layer, return to my image layer, come to the filter menu, to sharpen and to smart sharpen. I'm going to apply this filter at a far greater strength than one would typically use for a photographic image. I'll crack up the amount up to its maximum of 500, and have the radius at 4, or in this case, 4.2. So I'll zoom in to a 100% view and…
