Shooting for a star trail

Shooting for a star trail

- When it comes to star trail photography, there's really two ways to do it: the absolute perfect way in camera that you hope comes out and the I know Photoshop way that looks almost as good and works pretty much every time. The second method is the one I'm going to teach you, but it does start with some shooting. What you need to do is find a good scene. And you're going to want to go out into your environment, preferably when there's a good night sky. Now, in order for this to work if you live in a busy urban area, you might need to get to a place where there's not a lot of light pollution. You're going to want things to be relatively dark. Don't overexpose the scene and don't have a lot of lights or a lot of moving lights in the scene. Now, you may end up seeing something like a plane going through, but it's not a big deal as long as you have enough frames. What's going to happen is we're going to actually see the stars move. Now, really it's not so much the stars moving as it is…
