Smoothing skin in Lightoom

- [Narrator] A little goes a long way when softening skin. If you get rid of the pores and lines that make up skin texture, your subject will get that plastic look. Lightroom has a couple ways to soften. In the basic panel, you can see two tools: texture and clarity. Texture is designed to increase or decrease medium-sized texture. It does so without affecting the fine detail or adding contrast and saturation, like clarity does. Most of the time, texture is what you use for skin. It's easy to apply throughout the image by just moving the slider to the left, but look how it softened her hair, and we've lost some of the sweater detail too. The great thing is that we can apply this same softening with a local adjustment. Activate the brush and select texture. Pull the slider to around 50, and sweep over her face, avoiding her eyes and hair. Activate the mask to make sure you didn't miss a spot, and zoom in and fill in.…
