Smoothing skin textures with blur

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to smooth away very small skin details like pores using a layer of blur. So, the first thing we want to do is create another merged layer by pressing that keyboard shortcut, Control + Shift + Alt + E here on the PC, or Command + Shift + Option + E on the Mac. Now I'll go ahead and rename that layer GBlur20, because we're going to be applying a filter called Gaussian Blur with a radius of 20 pixels. By naming the layer that way, that'll remind me what I did. Now you want to go up to the Filter menu, choose Blur. Not Blur Gallery, but rather Blur, and then choose Gaussian Blur, which is the best basic blur filter in all of Photoshop. Now, by default, the radius is one pixel, and incidentally, if you want to preview what's going on inside the dialog box, then you can just click on a detail inside the image with this square cursor, like so, and then you'll see that detail blown up to 100%.
