Strobes

- [Deke] In this movie, we're going to discuss strobes, and the great thing about strobes is that they control the exposure of the foreground subject only. They do not affect the background. - [Hergen] So, let's take a look at strobe exposure. So, here in our first image, the strobes are off so you can see the foreground is not being exposed at all. - [Deke] And so, everything that we're seeing here is a function of ambient light. - [Hergen] Yes, everything in this image is being lit by ambient light alone. So, here we've turned our strobes on and we've put them on quarter power and you can see the background exposure hasn't been affected, but our foreground subject is starting to be lit. Turning up the strobe power a little more to half power, you can see that our foreground exposure is getting brighter as well, but again, that background exposure is still the same. And here at full power, we've got a nice foreground exposure, but the background exposure has not been affected. You…
