- [Instructor] Texture Effects in Studio from Topaz Labs is an application that runs as a plugin within Photoshop that includes a library of textures and extensibility to modify the way those textures look. You can download the product from topazlabs.com. A couple of things about installing Texture Effects. First, as Topaz Labs states, this is a resource-extensive program, you should have a pretty good system to be able to run it smoothly. Secondly, ideally you will want to run this as a plugin from Photoshop but it can also be run as a standalone from the Topaz Studio software. To run it as a Photoshop plugin, you must first run it from the Topaz Studio application, so the two kind of go together. So, a takeaway for any third-party application that you're running in Photoshop is always run it on a duplicate layer.
