Timing the move

Timing the move

Before you start to animate, it's important to determine the duration of the shot that's needed. Are you cutting something into a documentary with a slow and leisurely pace? Or is it a television commercial where every single shot is specified, often in a decimal point value? In any case, you want to know the timing or at least have a pretty good idea. If not, you'll likely do a few variations to provide it. So be sure to talk to the producer or the director, or give some thought as to what you need. It's always easy to come back to After Effects and make a tweak but you really need to think this through. In any case, just apply the language of cinema and do a little bit of studying of classic moves. The same moves that are used by a Hollywood director in a film that you like can be used virtually within the photograph.
