Tips for using Fibers
- [Instructor] This movie is about the Fibers filter, which can be a quick and effective way of adding texture to an image. One of the limitations of the Fibers filter is that the streaking is always vertical, but what if we could create horizontal fibers? And what if we could then blend the horizontal with the vertical? Let's switch to this image, and I'm just going to add the fibers on top of this so that we can see it in context. I'll come and add a new blank layer. Fibers are one of a few filters where you can add content to a blank layer. I could just now come to Fibers in the Render group, and apply them here. Now, I'm actually not going to do this, and I just want you to see this so you can understand why. When you apply fibers, the strength tends to clump at the edges of your canvas. So for that reason, I want to, before I apply the filter, make the layer larger, so that we have some flexibility in how we move and position the fibers on top of the image. That can only be done…
