Triggering strobes: Electronic vs. fiber optics

- [Instructor] Alright, so, as we discussed in a previous movie, one of the downsides of strobes is that you have to trigger the darn things. Because after all, when you're working with an LED torch, which is essentially a flashlight, you have the option of turning it on and off any time you like, but with a strobe, the thing has to go off at the same moment that the shutter opens on your camera. So what are our triggering options? - [Instructor] There's two basic methods for triggering a strobe. The first one we're going to talk about is electronic, and in this case, we're actually sending an electronic signal from the camera to the strobe, via a cable, telling it to fire. The second method we're going to discuss is fiber optic. And in this case, we're sending a light signal, through a fiber optic cable, from the camera, generally from its internal flash, to the strobe, telling it when to fire. - [Instructor] Now, I have to be honest here, my experience is limited to exclusively…
