Ultra high contrast black-and-white with High Pass

- [Narrator] If you like the ultra high contrast black and white look with really crisp detail, then here are some techniques using filters that you might find useful. Here's the starting point and as always I will convert my background layer to a smart object. That's the first thing that I do. Next so that we can isolate the sunflower, I'm going to come to my channels panel where I have an alfa channel already prepared. I will command click on that to load the channel as a selection. Back to my layers panel and then make that selection into a layer mask. I'll now come and add a layer of solid color which in this case is going to be white. Returning to my image layer, I am now going to apply a high pass filter. High pass is often considered an alternative to smart sharpening. And in this instance I'm going to use both together. But high pass is typically a good choice when you're working with a man made subject an architectural subject. Obviously, that's not the case here. But we're…
