Upsampling with Preserve Details

- [Narrator] In this movie, I'll walk you through the process of upsampling a photographic image inside Photoshop. As I was saying, normally I am not a fan of upsampling. The reason is that you cannot possibly generate new detail. Photoshop cannot see anything that wasn't there in the original photograph. The only way to get more detail is to recapture the shot at the highest resolution associated with your scanner or digital camera. But every once in a while, you run into an image that cannot be recaptured such as this one here. This is Buzz Aldrin as photographed by Neil Armstrong on the surface of the moon. It's not the kind of image you're likely to capture anytime soon and neither is anyone else. So if we want to make the image larger, we have no choice but to upsample it. The good news is that Photoshop has adapted upsampling images as is humanly possible. To do so, go to the image menu and choose the Image Size command.
