Using the Displace filter, part 1
- [Instructor] The Displace filter is another way that we can warp pattern fills, and this works really nicely with ruffles. I'm gonna show you two different versions, a tight ruffle, and a much softer, little flounce. Now let's start with the tight ruffle. I'd like to thank Zoe Hong for the sketch, and you should check out her YouTube channel, it's got great fashion content. I've already filled in the ruffle, and I've gone ahead and added shading for this particular piece, to save some time. Let's talk about how to do this using the Displace filter. So I've got the ruffle filled in on this layer. I'm gonna make a new layer on top of it, and I'm gonna start with my shading. I'm going to use a paintbrush with black. I want the edges to be hard in this case, because the separation between the ruffles is very crisp in this skirt, and I'm gonna go ahead and paint in all of the areas that are set back.
