Using the Rectangular Marquee tool - Photoshop Tutorial
From the course: Introducing Photoshop
Using the Rectangular Marquee tool
- [Instructor] I'm going to start off this chapter by introducing you to the most basic selection tools that are available here inside Photoshop. And those are these guys up here, toward the top of the toolbox. Notice if I click and hold on the second tool down, then I bring up a flyout menu that includes a Rectangular Marquee Tool and the Elliptical Marquee. And believe it or not, even though all they do is draw a selection outline either in the shape of a rectangle or an ellipse, these are very useful tools. We're going to start things off with the Rectangular Marquee Tool. And so here we are looking at a stock photograph from the Dreamstime image library about which you can learn more and get some great deals at dreamstime.com/deke. Now, notice over here in the Layers panel, and if, for some reason, you can't see that panel, then you want to go up to the Windows menu and choose the Layers command. Do not, however…
