- [Instructor] The select and mask feature makes quick work of tweaking and refining selections to meet your needs. Let's take a closer look at how select and mask can be used to refine your selections. Now in this design, I have kind of an ad that I've created and I'd like to be able to tuck this text behind the model to give it a little more dimension and just give it a better look. And so what I'm going to do is I'm going to select the background layer here and I'm actually going to duplicate it. I'm going to press command control J to duplicate that layer and then I'll rename that copy to model. All right. Now I'm going to hide the background layer for now and with the model layer selected, I'm going to come up here and grab my rectangular marquee tool and actually, you can select any selection tool to do this next step.
