Using blending modes and adjustment layers
- Let's keep working with the same image. So far, we have very well-targeted adjustments, easily shifting the color. However, if you pay close attention, the color looks a touch fake. Notice here, it's doing a great job of accurately targeting the blue, but as we make these changes here, the color is just a bit intense. That's because it's being applied very flat. If you look at the original red, you'll notice there's much more variation in the color where the shadows fall, a deep, rich red in the shadows, a brighter red in the sunlight. Well here, it's pretty even. What we want to do is take that layer and switch it's blending mode. You could do that right here at the top. And as you mouse over, you'll see it makes the change. Now different choices will vary here. And depending upon the source content, you may find yourself using a different option. Hue and color often worked well. But in this particular image,…
