Using fill layers to create a hand-painted look

- [Instructor] One of the easiest ways to hand tint a photograph would be to use a solid color fill layer. Now before I add the fill layer I want to select the area that I want to fill. So I'll tap the L key to select the lasso tool but I actually want the polygonal lasso tool and I'm just going to draw a loose selection here around the front of these wooden houses. And then when I get to this point I can just double click in order to close that selection. Then from the layer menu I'll choose new fill layer. I'll choose solid color, that brings up the new layer dialogue box so that I can change the blend mode to color. If I don't change the blend mode to color I'm just going to get a solid fill but by changing the blend mode I'm going to be able to now see the luminosity values or the photograph underneath. I'll click OK, it'll bring up the color picker and now I can select a color. I'm going to move down into the reds and…
