Using a floor image
One of my favorite techniques when working with motion control 3D is to create a ground plane. This gives you an actual image that occupies the floor. Now you really have a sense of movement as you take the camera and animate it. That's because you don't just have cutout layers. Now this is important when you have points of contact with the ground, and if there's a lot of perspective in the scene, it can really add a lot. Let me show you an example. In this particular example for the image, you'll notice that as the camera zooms out, it feels like it's moving along the ground. We see the texture in the road and it really creates a sense of perspective. It's not just a zoom. We can actually see the bricks in the road as we move through the scene and it really creates a sense of depth. In After Effects, this is done by layering in the different pieces.
