- [Instructor] In this chapter, you're going to learn how to blur the background of a photo in Photoshop. The goal is to take this low-quality image and make it look more professional by applying a blur and other effects. In order for us to have a realistic blurry background, we will need to place her in a new separate layer and actually remove her from the background. Let me show you what I mean by that. With the background layer selected, you can press control-J on Windows, command-J on the Mac, to duplicate the layer and I'll disable the background layer and we'll focus on this new duplicate layer. In the properties panel, you will see the quick actions and on top of the list, you'll see the remove background button. This button will use artificial intelligence known as Adobe Sensei to analyze the image and make a selection around the main subject and apply a layer mask to it.
