From the course: Introduction to Lights in V-Ray Next

Using the provided scene files

- [Instructor] In order to work along with the video presentations found in this training course, you could, if you wanted, make use of scene files of your own, so long as you are comfortable with the idea of adapting what I say and do onscreen to your own setup, or you could also download and work with the exercise files folder, which contains all of the scenes that we used in the creation of this course. Now, whilst you can unzip and place these files on any storage device that you like, if you would prefer to follow along using the exact same steps that I will be taking, then I would recommend placing the exercise files folder on your desktop for ease of use. In order to also make working with the provided scene files as painless as possible, let's set up our 3ds Max project folder by accessing the File menu and then from the project fly-out, choosing the set active project command, after which we can navigate to wherever we have saved our exercise files folder and then set that as the root for our project by selecting it and hitting the OK button. Now, if we are using 3ds Max 2018 or earlier of course, we will need to do things a little differently, by first of all using the set project command from the File menu and then again selecting and setting the exercise files folder from wherever we have downloaded it to. And with all of that done, we are ready now to start on our journey of learning the lighting tools that can be found inside V-Ray Next for 3ds Max.
