Using a smart object as an adjustment layer

- The use of smart objects is quite versatile and effectively gives you a new adjustment layer, allowing you to combine multiple layers together, to create a new smart object. For example, in this case, I had applied a black and white adjustment to the object. You'll notice that by using the lightened mode, I was able to target this. So by lightening up the greens here, and the cyans, I effectively created a black and white image. One where the blueberries had color and one where the cartons were effectively colorless. Those layers could be selected and then right clicked and converted to a new smart object, which is what we've already done here. Now that smart object can be blended. Remember, using the move tool, it's super easy to press shift+plus. you can now step through and use that as a blending tool. This makes it simple to mix it together.
