- [Tony] Hi and welcome to Design Tools Weekly with me, Tony Harmer. This week, I'd like to ask if you've ever taken a look at open type variable fonts? They are a gift to the world of screen and now they're supported in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, they are a gift to the rest of us also. Open type variable fonts are highly flexible and customizable typefaces that are the equivalent of multiple individual font variants, compactly packaged within a single font file. Although options vary from font to font, after all, this is still a fairly new thing, attributes such as weight, width, slant, optical size, et cetera can be changed with slider controls. Let's take a very quick look at that inside of InDesign.
