- [Narrator] In this chapter, we're going to cover the all important topic of underwater optics and this is information that you absolutely have to understand in order to capture successful photographs. We're going to start things off in this movie with a look at wide angle lenses and how they function underwater. So let's go ahead and take a look at this first slide here. Obviously we're in a swimming pool as opposed to being in an ocean. However, this is a great demonstration of how things work. - [Narrator] So we're going to start off with a series of images that are going to show us the different fields of view or the angles of coverage of several wide angle lenses underwater. And again the pool is a good place to demonstrate this because it's kind of a fixed quantity. The first lines that we're looking at here is a 35 millimeter Rectilinear lens. Now this lens has a 63 degree diagonal field of view. So not horizontal but diagonal. This is an important concept in photography that…
