The advantage of Smart Objects
- [Instructor] Smart objects offer a nondestructive and flexible way to work with layers in Photoshop, especially when you're resizing or transforming, or warping layers. Let's say, for instance, that I want to make this image smaller within the canvas, but I'm not exactly sure what size it's ultimately going to be. I'm going to convert the background to a layer by clicking on the lock icon, and then I'll choose edit, and then transform, and then scale, holding down the option key on Mac or the ALT key on Windows. I'll transform this a lot smaller. Then, I'll click the warp icon and I'll just add one of the presets. Now, if I apply this transformation, Photoshop is going to discard a lot of information, and it's made a permanent change. And that means if I change my mind later and select edit, and then transform, and warp, and I choose that same preset, and then try to bend it back the other way, and then click on…
