A bright and confident beginning

- Hi, I'm Deke McClelland. Welcome to the world's most concise video course about the world's most powerful image editor, a little thing I'm calling Introducing Photoshop. Now, chances are that you've heard how Photoshop can take a handful of boring photographs and turn them into something that looks like it came right out of the pages of a high concept magazine. Which is true by the way, but every time you use the program, your stuff looks like it was cut with a dull pair of scissors and pasted together using Elmer's glue. Which is true by the way, but it won't be for long. Watch this course, every single movie, and I swear to you, by the end, Photoshop will be your friend. It goes like this. In chapter one, you'll meet the image file, not to mention the Home screen, and the Photoshop interface. Chapter two begins with some basic selections. Then we switch into high gear with select subject, object selection, and refine radius, all of which deliver amazing results. Next comes chapter three, the wonders of layers, which is a world unto itself in Photoshop. Highlights include the three essential blend modes, cropping and straightening, and scale, rotate, and move. Chapter four is all about text. Specifically, we take an H.G. Wells story, written in 1897, and turn it into an unmistakable work of 21st century art. The topic of chapter five is retouching. First, I'll show you how to clone from a source to a destination. Then comes healing, which makes for better edge details. And we wrap things up with a content aware fill command and the clone source panel. Finally, chapter six is devoted to the important topics of saving and exporting, which is where I'll show you how to add a copyright statement and quickly export a PNG file for websites and mobile devices. Now my goal is to teach you the most critical stuff you need to know about Photoshop, in the order you need to know it. By the end, believe it or not, you may even think that Photoshop is a really fun program to use. And I should know. I've been having fun with it for the last 30 years, which based on my youthful appearance, means that I started using Photoshop when I was three, but don't take my word for it. Watch the following movies and see for yourself.
