The role of Auto Brightness/Contrast
- The Brightness Contrast effect was a very legacy type adjustment that was used in the past to enhance brightness and contrast. But traditionally, compared to a Levels or Curves adjustment, it didn't do as good of a job. That's because as you brightened up an image it would lose contrast and then you would adjust contrast, and it would affect the brightness. It was really a tug of war trying to get the right results. But in recent years the Photoshop team has enhanced this effect to make it much more useful. With the object selected here, let's go to the Adjustments panel and we'll choose Brightness and Contrast. It's the first effect. Now you can click Auto and it will analyze the image and attempt to adjust. In this case, it did a nice job of enhancing the brightness and the contrast to improve the image. This makes it easy for you to continue to refine the brightness of the image or the contrast separately.…
