Defining your style

- Only you can create work like you do. That is 100% true statement and it's something that you've got to learn to believe in for yourself. Anyone can learn to master technique, you could follow me around for years and learn exactly how I like to light my portraits, you could learn the type of people I like to photograph, or the color of background that I use, but, the thing that you can never replicate is my decision making process. And that's true for every individual. Your decision making process is the only thing that will make your work unique and you've got to be able to learn to use that to your advantage. Never let somebody tell you what would be a good project for you or the types of things that you should take pictures of. Your style has got to be uniquely you so that it's something you completely believe in. A few negative things I hear photographers say all the time are, no one would hire me to do this one thing, or no one will buy this type of art, it's too different from…
