Photographing a performer in a rehearsal space

- I got invited to go to a circus school in Mendocino that teaches young students, mainly high schoolers, how to do aerial arts. Whenever you're invited into somebody's home or place of business, or in this situation, a school, I rarely say no because it's a special thing to be invited into somebody's space. Once the students stopped doing their performance, I met up with a woman named Holly, who's an aerial performer as well. I photographed her doing some aerial work on what they call a "hoop", which is elevated about 15 feet in the air. And looking around the room, I kept thinking about, what's my background going to be? There was a lot of clutter on the walls. I really wanted to focus on Holly, and not what was behind her. So, the first thing I noticed when I came in is that the space is really busy, and it's really cool, and it's a classroom. But for me, I just want to focus on you because I'm doing portraits.
