Using a diffuser in full sun

- A 5-in-1 reflector is such a great tool for making good portrait light. But if I had to choose one piece of it to keep, I would choose the diffuser. I can use this tool to make great soft portrait light in a lot of situations. Including when the sun is high in the sky like at noon. So for instance, we can turn on our sunlight here in the studio, we've got a spotlight up here, and when I bring the diffuser up over my subject now the light shining down is soft and not nearly as harsh. However, when it's shining from above like this we still have raccoon eyes, we've got dark shadows under the eyebrows and those aren't very flattering in any situation. We've been talking a lot in this class about using side light, and with the 5-in-1 diffuser in the diffuser mode like this I can redirect overhead light to come from the side just by tilting it like this. This is also why I prefer to use the large reflector kit, the long one like this not just a circle. The circle just isn't large enough…
