Creating a slicer

- [Instructor] A slicer can be added to quickly filter all related data in a report or a dashboard. To create a slicer from the visualizations panel, select slicer. The slicer tile is added to the report. Next let's add a field that this slicer will be based on. Let's go to the fields list and expand the date category. Select date, and the slicer has now been set up to work with all available dates related to this data set. Within this area you can type in a start date or an end date. When these fields are selected you can also pick a date from the mini calendar that displays. As well you have a timeline that you can use. By left-click and drag you can change the start date. Notice how it updates in the field as you make this selection. If you look at the tiles over here to the left, they are also updating dynamically based upon all values that start with a date of November 22nd, 2002.
