Slide masters are really important because they provide you one place to make mass changes to the entire presentation. If you want to change things like titles or add a logo to a slide, or add a background element to a slide, the slide master is the place to do it. To get to the slide master view, you click view on the ribbon and then choose slide master. Think of the slide master as working behind the scenes in PowerPoint.
