Start quickly with a theme or template

- [Instructor] If you wanna get up and running quickly PowerPoint comes with a very large selection of templates and design themes to get you started. Click File on the top left-hand side of the screen and select New. This is also where it takes you when you open up PowerPoint with no presentation open. You can scroll through this list and choose a design theme that you like or that will fit what you're trying to present. You have more options, for example if I pick this theme Madison I can choose from several color variants. And in each color variant I can click down at the bottom on the arrows where it says more images and get a glimpse of what the presentation's going to look like such as diagrams and fonts. If I like the choice I'll click create and my presentation is created. In fact if I create any new slide and click the down arrow and see what all the various layouts are going to look like. This is a design theme but sometimes you also wanna get started with the content already in place also. You can do that with a template. Let's go back to File and we'll click New again. This time instead of choosing a design theme below I'm going to search for a template. As long as I have an internet connection I can come in here to the search box and type in a search to get started. For example certificate. I'll hit the enter key on my keyboard and now I have several templates to get going. I'll choose a certificate and double-click on it. It's going to download it and open it up in PowerPoint. You'll notice now the text is already in place. This is the difference between a template and a theme. All I have to do is click inside and put in my information. For example where it say company name I'll click inside, highlight the text, and change it to my company name. I can click inside name and change all of those details. It even puts in today's date and I can change my details. Now that's a nice looking certificate. I can save this and print it out and I'm ready to go.
