From the course: PowerShell for Exchange Administration

Using PowerShell to improve workflows

- [Anthony Howell] Hello, and welcome to PowerShell for Exchange Administration. A course brought to you by TechSnips. So, TechSnips is an IT career development platform where we create IT video based how-to content in small videos that we call snips. So what we're about to go through here is one of the way that we publish our snips. So we link them together in a logical order. Throw in a few slides. And we've got an entire training course. So essentially we're a shared collective of knowledge, and a community of geeks, and we just like helping out one another, and demonstrate our knowledge to hopefully help someone else, learn some things that we know. And we are always looking for more contributors. As you're watching this course, know that you could be a presenter as well. Everyone has something to share. And you want to bet that if you're watching this, you know more than just Exchange and PowerShell. And since you do, we'd love for you join us, at the link you see on the screen. So my name is Anthony Howell, I've got just over 10 years of IT experience. Started out in the help desk, worked my way up to a CIS Admin, and I'm now an independent PowerShell consultant, and on top of that I'm also a TechSnips Contributor and Vice President of content at TechSnips. And you can find more of me at theposhwolf.com So, before we dive into this course, we've geared it towards Windows Systems Administrators so folks that are working inside Windows systems, all day everyday. This will also be great for Exchange Administrators. So if you specialize in Exchange, and maybe you'd like to add to your PowerShell toolkit, this is going to be good for you. And even for service or help desk folks that support Exchange. Learning PowerShell is a great way, to not only learn more about Exchange itself, but to automate your role, and to add skills that will be useful for other domains that you end up managing. And lastly, if you just want to be one of the above, this course is a great way to get started. I cannot emphasis enough how important it is to learn PowerShell when you learn how to manage any product. So in this course, we'll be of course utilizing Microsoft Exchange Server, and I'll mark that this can work in 2010 or newer. So 2010 is where PowerShell really took a hold in Exchange Server. And I'll be working in a couple different versions of Microsoft Exchange Server, and I'll be sure to note when there are certain commands that aren't backwards compatible. So this course also requires some basic PowerShell knowledge not a lot, as long as you're familiar with what PowerShell is, some basic commands, you'll be good to go. So we'll see ya in the first section.
