- [Voiceover] Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Building Your Technology Skills. My name is Martin Guidry. This week we're going to talk about the error messages that can come up when issuing a ping command. Ping is a common network utility. It's used to test the connectivity between two servers. And usually we just look at it as a success or failure. So if it succeeds, we know we have a basic network connection between two servers. And if it fails, we know there's some sort of problem. Usually people move on to the next networking tool as soon as it fails, but today I'd like to talk about some of the error messages and how those error messages can give us some additional information beyond just the fact that the ping failed. So we'll do a quick demo here. First I'll issue a successful ping command. I'll just ping a common website. And we see we got a reply, which implies success.
