Video editors spend a lot of time organizing clips in a project to get familiar with the material before editing. In the future, as computers become faster and faster, I believe we're going to have them do most of this for us. Imagine after a day's shoot that you simply import or ingest the video clips into your software of choice, and it identifies the type of shot, the people or objects in the shot, the characters in the scene, time of day, as well as transcribes a script for you word by word. You could also give the computer a series of tokens, such as how you'd like these clips to be color-coded, and it will do this all for you.
